Golf Canada announced Wednesday that 15-year-old amateur Alexis Thompson of Coral Springs, Fla., will tee it up as a professional at this year's Open, Thompson, who was named Golfweek's 2009 women's amateur and junior player of the year, announced Tuesday she is turning pro. “Alexis is a very exciting addition to our player field and we are pleased to offer the top-ranked amateur in the world an exemption into the CN Canadian women's open,” said tournament director Sean Van Kesteren. “She is a young and upcoming golfer who hits the ball a long way.
